College Students and Graduates
You will benefit from the Forecast Institute as you learn the nuts and bolts of weather forecasting and gain real experience. We take you from analysis to preparation of forecast maps, then move on to forecasting clouds, precipitation, effective use of numerical models, satellite and upper air data, and Doppler radar. You'll also learn how to do micro- and mesoscale weather forecasting so that you can support a variety of users including aviation, agriculture, power utilities, construction and others.

Our online course has been developed as a learn-by-doing program of study. There are a number of quizzes along the way to test you knowledge and skills, but our emphasis is on "doing". We do recommend that you have taken at least and introductory meteorology courses, including one synoptic or and/or one dynamic meteorology course. It is best if you have completed coursework to at least the junior level of college. If you are working in meteorology right now, you will find that this is a great refresher course.

The Forecast Institute also has other programs.
