The Forecast Institute for Operational Meteorologists combines personal training with online programs. We provide you with the essential skills you need for success. You will master map analysis, understand computer models, satellite imagery, Doppler radar, upper air soundings and you will learn to forecast for a variety of users.

The online segment of the course takes twelve weeks, building on each week's training sessions by producing weather forecasts and developing an understanding of who uses weather forecasts and why. Some of the material covered in the course include --

At the end of the course you will also have experience making forecasts for aviation, power utilities, agriculture, construction companies, then general public and others.

You will work with experienced meteorologists, top reseachers and professors. Our online course includes interaction with instructors through e-mail, telephone and Internet messaging. The online segment should take about 2 hours a day, 1 to 2 days per week.

Sessions fill up quickly. Be sure to register today! Online sessions start on the first Tuesday of each month. The total cost for 52 sessions of online training is just $497. Register by sending a letter stating which session you will attend and the $497 fee. You should plan to register at least 30 days before the session begins (you can pay using Google Checkout). We are now taking registrations through 2010.

You will receive a certificate after you complete the online training and be able to use us as a reference.
